Goal Definition Process

Description

The Goal Definition Process allows employees to set their yearly goals. The Goal Definition Process is often sold in the HR Package with the Mid-Year Review Process and the Annual Review Process, bundled as the Goal and Performance Process.

The process consists of (1) Goal Definition; (2) Mid-Year Review; and (3) Annual Review. With Mid Year and Annual reviews tracked in ProcessEx, both the employee and their managers can monitor the employee's progress throughout the year.

With the Goal and Performance Process, employee goal definitions and reviews are stored electronically in a document repository. This allows for easy access to prior year's reviews for employee advancement, raises and other human resources needs.

Use Cases
  • Kick off the Goal Definition Process by selecting those employees who are going to participate. Each participating employee receives a notice in their inbox.
  • After receiving the task in their inbox to set their yearly goals, the employee downloads the yearly goals definition document and completes it, setting their annual goals. When completed, the employee uploads the document, clicking Submit to send it to their supervisor.
  • Supervisor receives a notice in their inbox that a direct report has submitted yearly goals. The supervisor downloads the document, reviews the goal definitions, making any necessary revisions and uploads it, clicking Submit to send it to the Vice President for review.
  • Vice President receives notice in their inbox that a supervisor has submitted yearly goals for an employee. The vice president downloads the document, reviews it approving it or rejecting it, then clicking Submit to send back to the supervisor for further action.
  • If the Vice President approved the goal definition, the supervisor receives notice in their inbox that they are to hold an employee meeting for a direct report, to review and discuss the direct report's yearly goals. After the meeting, the supervisor clicks Submit to send the goal definition document back to the direct report. If the Vice President rejected the goal definition, Supervisor will revise and resubmit to the Vice President for review and approval.
  • The employee receives their approved yearly goal definition in their inbox. The employee can download a copy for their files and reference throughout the year.
